Alyssa Sowell and Elliott Mabry were united in marriage on May 23, 2015. The groom is the son of Andy Mabry and Carla Mabry. The bride is the daughter of Tanya Hawkins and Cade Hawkins

The happy couple first started dating in eighth grade. In true fairytale fashion, they couple has been inseparable ever since. 

 

Elliott proposed on December 19, 2014 during a family outing to the Memphis Zoo’s Zoo Lights. When the couple neared the tunnel of lights, Elliott pulled Alyssa off to the side and kneeled down. Under a mesmerizing blanket of twinkling lights, he asked her to marry him. 

 

The wedding took place on May 23, 2015, at the home of Howard and Molly Hawkins in Batesville, Mississippi. The couple had an intimate outdoor wedding overlooking the bluff at sunset.  Clay Moore officiated the ceremony.

 

The bride wore a picturesque fit and flare gown with a lace overlay, beaded sleeves, and an open back. Alyssa used beads from her mother’s wedding dress — something old — to embellish her garter. For something new, she wore a necklace given to her by her younger brother. She borrowed a veil from Elliott’s sister. Her blue garter was handmade by her grandmother.

 

The reception was held at the home of Justin and Austin Mabry. Me and My Tea Room Catering brought in a delicious selection of entrees, and a DJ provided live entertainment. 

 

Following a honeymoon in Riviera Maya, Mexico, the couple is at home in Senatobia, Mississippi. Alyssa is studying at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. Elliott works as a supervisor at Southern Installation Services.
