Alexandra Nicole and Ben Scharff were united in marriage on May 24, 2015. The bride is the daughter of Kate Mercer and Pat Lopez of Memphis, Tennessee, and Jamie and Shannan Rushing of Memphis, Tennessee. The groom is the son of Deborah Soucy and Edward Scharff of Memphis, Tennessee.

 

On New Year’s Eve, the possibilities are endless. Magic is in the air, and the promise of something different, something better, is just around the corner. On December 31, 2012, Alexandra and Ben had no idea that they would meet each other. And when they did say that fateful “hello,” they probably didn’t realize that the other person would soon become the love of their life. 

 

Fast forward to October 1, 2014, when Ben decided it was time to ask Alexandra for her hand in marriage. The couple was at the grand opening of Lafayette’s Music Room in Midtown. Ben said he left something at the clothing store they co-own, The Attic Apparel, which is right next to Lafayette’s. Under the guise of a quick errand, Alexandra went with him and walked into a breathtaking surprise: The shop was decorated with photos from their relationship and balloons. Ben even laid out some of her favorite chocolates. 

 

The ceremony took place on May 24, 2015, at Annesdale Mansion. Alexandra and Ben had an intimate ceremony in the garden officiated by Reverend Paul White. A silent prayer was held for the bride’s late brother Jamie Rushing and the groom’s father, Edward Scharff. 

 

The bride wore a vintage A-line dress that was to feature trumpet style and added bustle. For something old, the bride took diamonds from her mother’s tennis bracelet to turn into a pair of earrings. For something new, her best friend Diana pinned a Greek eye to Alexandra’s gown. For something blue, she carried her brother’s blue duck call in her bouquet. 

 

A pre-cocktail hour preceded the ceremony and featured the couple’s favorite drinks: mojitos and Bloody Mary’s. A reception also followed the ceremony. CFY Catering had seven food bars available, including a cheesecake art bar. 

 

After a honeymoon in the Dominican Republic, the couple is at home in Memphis, Tennessee. The newlyweds are self-employed, with ventures including The Ivory Closet Franchises, The Attic Apparel, and IronJaw Dental Labs.
