Sheri and Teddy were united in marriage on October 29, 2015.

 

Although the couple met in 1994, they didn’t go out on their first date until sometime three years later. Teddy was beginning his career as a firefighter at a station in Mississippi, and Sheri’s cousin happened to work with him there. Sheri had seen Teddy once or twice at the station, but it wasn’t until she returned to Florida for a visit in 1997 that they went out on a date.

 

After months of trying to plan the right proposal, Teddy popped the question on May 5, 2015, at Sheri's grandmother's family farm in her hometown of Lakeland, Florida. For him, there wasn’t a more sentimental place to ask the woman he loves for her hand in marriage. 

 

The ceremony took place on October 29, 2015, at Drakewood Farm in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. 

Sheri and Teddy were married in a traditional Christian ceremony officiated by Minister Ralph Griggs.

 

Fashioned after a secret garden, the wedding space was simple and elegant. Old wooden church pews lining an outdoor aisle, and the couple said their vows under a wooden arch adorned with flowers.

 

The bride wore an off-white Kitty Chen Couture gown with a lace scoop neckline. A vintage brooch belt and sweeping train created a dazzling silhouette. For something old, the bride wrapped her grandmother’s vintage necklace around her bouquet. Her wedding dress served as something new. She borrowed a sixpence and slipped it into her shoe, and for something blue, she wore her mother’s brooch. 

 

A reception followed on the farm’s grounds. An intimate dinner was served on wooden platters, with hickory smoked pork tenderloin, herb roasted potatoes and pan-seared green beans all on the menu. A chandelier illuminated the barn, putting a chic spin on the rustic atmosphere. 

 

Following a honeymoon in Nashville, Tennessee, the couple is at home in Olive Branch, Mississippi. Sheri works for Click Magazine and the DeSoto Times-Tribune, and Teddy serves as lieutenant at the Southaven Fire Department.
