Tired of trekking into Memphis for their cycling and running needs, Matt and Martha Hall opened Full Motion Running and Cycling in 2014 to serve not only themselves, but all area residents. “We both love running and I’ve loved cycling since I was a kid,” Matt explains. “We knew there was a void and a need, and we knew there was no better time than now.”

 

Located in Olive Branch at 6399 Goodman Road, Suite 112, Full Motion provides sporting apparel and gear, running shoes and bikes. The store also includes a full-service bike shop with mechanics on staff. 

A one-of-kind operation in Desoto County, Matt aims to attract customers by giving them what other stores can’t. “If we can get a customer in, and get them out of that big-box mindset, and they can share what their aches and pains and even what their goals are, and we can get them into the right kind of footwear, that’s where the real win is,” he says. “And that’s when we get people coming back with smiles on their faces.”

 

Though it is a specialty store, Matt wants everyone to feel comfortable walking through the doors. “Our belief is, ‘Every pace has a place,’” he notes. “We are welcoming to all and encouraging to all. There is no stereotype. There’s no specific body type for a runner or a cyclist. If they come in, we know they’re coming in with a goal.”

 

Whether it is cycling or running, the benefits for each are similar. “Most important is, I think, it’s a phenomenal stress reliever,” Matt concludes. The activities also minimize high cholesterol and blood pressure, help with weight loss and offer ways to meet new people and enjoy nature. “When people are running with friends, that accountability and friendship is great.”
